The Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme[Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme] The federal government program which subsidises medication costs in Australia. (PBS) is Australia's national program providing subsidised access to essential medicines. HIV antiretroviralsA medication or other substance which is active against retroviruses such as HIV. are included on the PBS under the S100 Highly Specialised Drugs Program. This means that HIV treatments can only be prescribed by appropriately-qualified medical practitioners.
