Everyone who travels should take out travel insurance to guard against lost luggage or unexpected changes to travel itineraries. Most international travel insurance does not cover medical expenses related to HIV, but it pays to shop around as some companies may offer restricted coverage based on your CD4 count and health history.

Good news stories

happy man The new year is upon us so I thought I’d look for a some good news stories to kick 2005 off on a positive note! Surprisingly I had little difficulty in finding examples of HIV-positive people who have fought a discriminatory policy or practice which worked against them because of their status — and who won out in the end.

Life insurance ban unjustified: study

People with HIV should not be excluded from taking out life insurance policies, a Swiss study has concluded.

Because of the historically high death rate among people with HIV/AIDS, people with HIV infection are frequently denied life insurance in many countries, including Australia.
