The stage of infection you are in when you are diagnosed will have an impact on decisions around treatments.
You may have been diagnosed at the point of seroconversion (the events that occur rapidly when the virus [2]A small infective organism which is incapable of reproducing outside a host cell. first enters your body) or you may have been living well with HIV for some time. You may also have been diagnosed in the later stages of infection, with an AIDS defining illness. This section provides information on the point of diagnosis and what this may mean in terms of HIV treatments.
