US travel ban finally lifted

Public health and community leaders have hailed President Obama for finally bringing to an end the two­decade ban on people with HIV from entering the United States.

The process to end the travel ban was started last year by Congress and the Bush administration. The current President completed the process by publishing the final rules to eliminate the ban on 30 October.
The ban is actually expected to be lifted early in 2010.
