The global launch of a new specialist HIV drug company happened in Australia last month.
ViiV Healthcare, established by GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) and Pfizer, can currently boast a portfolio of ten medicines with a further seven in the pipeline.
NAPWA Executive Director, Jo Watson, has welcomed the merger – commending the company for their pledge to use revenues from current treatments to fuel research and development in the HIV area.
‘It secures us a focused response now and into the future,‘ she said. ‘We will certainly ensure that the logistical links the Australian community has established with Pfizer and GSK enjoys a smooth transition across to the new company.’
