Nomine — let their names ring out

Rev. Peter Kurti, Rector of Sydney’s historic St James’ Church, blesses one of a peal of eight new bells to be installed in the historic church during June. The bell has been inscribed “Nomine — let their names ring out” in memory of those who have died of HIV/AIDS.

blessing the AIDS bell Lloyd Harris, the parishioner who first proposed dedicating one of the bells to HIV/AIDS, told PL that he hoped the bell would help people remember friends and family members lost to HIV/AIDS, and assist the grieving process.

A book of remembrance is to be kept at the church, into which the names of loved ones can be entered. The bells will be rung for the first time on Sunday 27 July.
