Positive travel info

Story • Jill Sergeant • 11 June 2009

Going overseas? Before you go, consult Positive Travel Info, a website for Australian HIV positive travellers.

www.positivetravel.info contains information on travel restrictions, preparation, traveling with medications, insurance, emergency healthcare and more.

The website is the newest incarnation of a travel advice project that started as factsheets published by Positive Life NSW and later morphed into the popular Up, Up + Away booklet.

The decision to move away from print was made so that information could be more frequently updated, especially information about restrictions on entry to different countries as this changes often. Only a few weeks after the website went live, US entry restrictions changed and the site was updated.

Countries are flagged green, orange or red according to their level of restrictions on entry for leisure visits of 30 days or less. You can also search on the country you wish to visit. For longer trips, consult the embassy.

The site will also be updated in future with other useful content, such as the inside story on what it's like to go through the US visa interview process.

Positive Travel Info is a joint initiative of NAPWA, Positive Life NSW, ACON and PLWHA Victoria, who developed the website.
